WORKING IN PARTNERSHIP

WHY WORK IN PARTHERSHIP?

When we work in partnership we consolidate information from a number of sources and use it to provide the best possible care for clients. It demonstrates a recognition of a variety of different people's skill sets and knowledge bases from care workers through to psychiatrists and mental health nurses.

I, for example, with my experience in mental health, may consider that a client requires medication to calm them. A diagnosis from an RMN may confirm this and a psychiatrist or Doctor may reccommend a specific medication based on the circumstances of the client as presented by the client, myself and the RMN. Working in this way means that there is less likely to be unforeseen difficulties.

WHO AM I WORKING WITH?

Depending on your work setting, you will probably come across a wide range of workers. These may include nurses, mental health nurses, Occupational therapists, therapists, care workers, Psychiatrists, therapists and Teachers.

How do i work in partnership?

You can demonstrate your commitment through information gathering and using it to help you make informed decisions. Also by generating discussions with other professionals about the information you have gathered. Always ensure that the client is involved as much as possible in any discussion which may lead to care plan changes or which impacts on their lives in any way.
